Applying Shipping Rules

To use shipping rules you have created, you will need to apply them to products. You can do this for individual products using the Edit Product page or do it in bulk by updating products by CSV.

Individual Products

To add a shipping rule to an individual product, go to the All Products page on the Products Panel of the Merchant Dashboard and click to edit the desired product.

Scroll down to the Shipping field. Click the Custom Rates option.

Select your shipping rule from the Shipping Profile dropdown. If your shipping profile doesn’t appear here, it is incomplete and needs to be finished. The shipping rule you select will be used to calculate shipping cost for this item. You can see a summary of the shipping rule by pressing Locations and rates.

Enter the other required shipping information and click Save Changes to apply the new rule.

Multiple Products at Once

To add a shipping rule to multiple products at once, you can use the CSV Update feature. Navigate to the CSV Update page under Import tab of the Products Panel of the Merchant Dashboard.

First export your products to a spreadsheet by using the Export Items button at the bottom of the page. This will download a CSV list of your products.

Open the CSV file and edit the columns use_custom_shipping and shipping_group for each product you want to apply a shipping rule to.

Set use_custom_shipping to False

Set shipping_group to the name of your shipping rule (including spaces)

Upload the updated CSV to apply these changes to your products. When you have finished, be sure to check an individual product edit page to make sure the shipping settings were changed as expected!
